2-time circumnavigator via Cape Horn • 1998: Awarded the YJA British Yachtsman of The Year and Sailing’s Young Hope title in France. • 2000/1: Vendee Globe Race 2nd in 60ft Kingfisher • 2001: appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) • 2005: Broke the solo non-stop circumnavigation record in 75ft trimaran B&Q/Castorama • 2005: Made a Dame Commander of the Order of the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE), the youngest recipient of this honour.
