Elegant and Prestigious Home for the Cape Horners “Hall of Fame”

Le Carré des Cap Horniers

The Mayor of Les Sables d’Olonne, Yannick Moreau, with the support of the town has welcomed the International Association of Cape Horners (IACH) by providing an elegant and prestigious home for the Cape Horners. The pièce de résistance of Le Carré des Cap Horniers is, of course, the substantial Cape Horners’ Hall of Fame Roll of Honour Board in the main reception room, displaying the engraved brass name panels of the inductees.

The new suite of rooms known as “Le Carre” overlook the main Marina. The IACH, are the recognised custodian of The Cape Horn Hall of Fame. The aim is to make Les Sables d’Olonne the permanent home of the Cape Horn Hall of Fame, as a way to perpetuate this important sailing legacy. Le Carre is a celebration of the past to the present, telling real stories of some of the Cape Horners. The induction events will coincide with major ocean racing events like the Mini Transat Race, also known to be an incubator of professional single-handed ocean racers.

Le Carré des Cap Horniers is situated in the main Marina on the upper level of the École de Pêche along with the Sable d’Olonne headquarters of MacIntyre Adventure’s GGR and OGR. It’s a place where events, including future Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, will be held.

All IACH members have an open invitation to both attend, and use the new facility.
